Restaurants opening dining rooms as restrictions are lifted

On Thursday, restrictions prohibiting indoor dining in restaurants were lifted.

Restaurants opened their doors to the public for the first time in weeks here in South Mississippi just in time for what some say is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants: Mother’s Day.

One Coast staple that is back open for business is McElroy’s. Yesterday they opened their Ocean Springs location and they are hoping to get their Biloxi restaurant up and running by Mother’s Day.

McElroy’s Owner Mickey McElroy tells News 25 their first day back was average and not a huge rush of people showed up to dine in. “It probably killed a lot of businesses that won’t come back and it killed our business. Two key months in the summer, that’s when we make our money, five or six months out of the year, so take two of the better months out, it’s a tough mix.”

McElroy’s will be following the guidelines set by the government to keep customers safe.
