Residents Safe, Dog Dies In Fire

Gulfport firefighters responded to a home off Boardman Boulevard a little after 11.
When they arrived they saw flames heavily involved in the kitchen, hall, and attic.
Two adults were in the home at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate. One of their dogs died in the fire. The second dog was outside and unharmed.
Seventeen firefighters were able to control the fire within ten minutes, but the three bedroom home suffered extensive smoke and heat damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
