Residents Have Chance to Join Citizens Police Academy

Residents across the Coast now have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Gulfport Police Department.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 spring session of the Citizen’s Police Academy. The academy consists of 11 three hour classes that will be held on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. to teach those who live or work in Gulfport all aspects of the police department. The first class will be held on March 19th. Students must be over 18 and have no prior felony convictions to be eligible.

Mandy Keenan, Community Relations Officer for the Gulfport Police Department, says, “It’s a great opportunity for you to learn how the police department works and learn the ins and outs of how the police department works, and get to know your local officers and your local Chief of Police and all the different things that come with it.”

Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
