Representative Jeffrey Guice running for mayor of Ocean Springs

This afternoon, Ocean Springs businessman and Republican State Representative for District 114 Jeffrey Guice announced his plans to run for mayor of Ocean Springs.

Guice joins fellow Republican Melanie Allen as the two candidates currently set to challenge incumbent Republican Mayor Shea Dobson for the position.

If elected, Guice says he plans to work with the board of alderman to develop solutions to issues before the city, such as sidewalks and traffic plans for trucks, golf carts, and cyclists, as well as working towards balancing the tax base.

Guice also mentioned long range planning as a crucial component to Ocean Springs’ future.

Representative Guice tells News 25 that he believes the city needs experienced, unifying leadership moving forward. “I am uniquely qualified to fill the role as an experienced leader, my experience, combined with the long, strong working relationships I’ve built with the other political subdivisions and industry will give our great city a competitive advantage that it has not experienced in the 30-plus years I’ve lived here.”

Municipal primary elections are set for April 6th, 2021 while the general election will be held on June 8th.
