Reports: Mississippi Coast Convention Center agrees to host funeral services for Nolan Wells

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The Mississippi Coast Convention Center has reportedly agreed to host funeral services for 18-year-old Nolan Wells, according to our media partner the Sun Herald.

The Sun Herald says the commission’s board voted unanimously Monday in support of hosting the event.

A room at the convention center would be set up for 1,200 to 1,500 people, but details are still in the works.

According to the Sun Herald, the Coast Coliseum and Convention Center executive director says the staff would want to make sure funeral attendees RSVP so the coliseum knows how many people to expect and who would be in attendance.

He also says metal detectors would be deployed as they are for other events. Filmmaker Tyler Perry announced last week that he will help cover the cost of Wells’ funeral and Reverend Al Sharpton is set to officiate the service.

WXXV is working to gather additional details on arrangements for Nolan.

We will provide updates as information becomes available.
