Remembering Tom Ferrill: Biloxi High coach and city councilman

The Gulf Coast mourns another loss after former Biloxi High Coach and City Councilman Tom Ferrill passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 88.
Ferrill was a 1949 graduate of Biloxi High where he also coached football, basketball, baseball, cross country, and softball.
Following his successful time as a coach, he was inducted into the Biloxi Sports Hall of Fame inaugural class in 1985 and in 2001 he was inducted into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame.
Ferrill was also on the Biloxi City Council for Ward one from 1993 until 2001. Eric Dickey, friend of Tom Ferrill, said “In my book, a tremendous Hall of Famer. He exemplified whether in school, whether in politics, whether just a gentlemen, a man of great courage, tenacity, as well as always rolling up his sleeves to help someone. For that I remember the love, the life, but now the legacy of Tom Ferrill.”
Visitation will take place Sunday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in downtown Biloxi. The service will be held Monday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a mass at St. Michael’s Church in Biloxi.
