Remembering Hurricane Camille

Biloxi residents gathered today to remember and discuss the anniversary of Hurricane Camille.

Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich talked with residents and exchanged stories over lunch as part of the Camille Conversations exhibit at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum.

Hurricane Camille officially made landfall as a category five storm on August 17th, 1969. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Camille’s landfall on the Gulf Coast. Mayor Gilich said, “This is a remembrance because it was the benchmark before Katrina. It was the thing that you, you would reference, hey what kind of storm is it going to be.”

The Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum is hosting a 50th anniversary exhibit through November 30th.
