Remembering Emily Goss: teen killed in fatal head-on collision
On Friday afternoon, 17-year-old Emily Goss died in a car crash on Highway 43 near Lee Town Road.
“You know those people who just walk into a room and you are just happy that they are there, their smile is contagious and they can say anything and you are laughing? That is who she was, she was the sweetest girl.” A life gone too soon for a young girl who was loved by her family, her friends, and her community.
News 25 spoke with her cousin, Jake Fletcher, who says he was at work when he heard the devastating news. “It was tough. It was weird. Our family has been fortunate enough to not have any immediate losses like that and she was number one, so it caught us all off guard. It caught us all in left field. It was just weird more than anything. It wasn’t supposed to be her turn.”
Emily was going into her senior year at Hancock High School. Her family says school, the people she loved and her religion were the most important things in her life. “I think if Emily could say one more thing to us she would say praise the God who gives and praise the God who takes.”
That’s something we’re told Emily always did, made sure everyone else was okay. “Of course, she would say ‘I love you’ but she would say ‘I got you,’ that’s what she always said ‘I got you, I got you’ and she does, she’s got us.”
