Remembering Elizabeth Corene Jones

News 25 spoke to people who knew Corene Jones. They described her as loving, full of life, and a wonderful mother.
A community, family, and friends are left with unanswered questions after mother of four Elizabeth Corene Jones was found dead near the end of her driveway in Vancleave this weekend. Those that knew her can’t understand why anyone would hurt Jones and say she will live on through her children, which were her world. Jenny Salter, Jones’ former employer and owner of Castaways Bar and Grill, said, “I sort of joked with her one time, calling her the old lady in the shoe. She had so many children, but she lived for her kids. She talked about them all of the time. She was proud of them. Everybody here is devastated and in shock. We haven’t really processed the fact that she’s no longer with us.”
Kristie Ducote was one of Jones’ high school friends. She said, “She was beautiful outside, but inside as well. She had a bubbly personality and she made friends from what I can tell with everyone she met. She didn’t meet a stranger. She’s just going to be really missed.”
