Recap On Morning Storms South Mississippi

South Mississippi had a rough start to the week with severe weather passing through the coast this morning… Fortunately no serious damage was reported in Harrison, Jackson, and Hancock Counties. Some leaves and sand swept on to Highway 90 because of the strong winds but nothing major blocked the roadways. Many school districts along the coast delayed classes because of the inclement weather. Even though we did not get hit as hard as predicted…it is always better to be safe than sorry.

“The delayed opening kept the school buses kept the children safe, a little bit hard on the parents but again it’s safer to be in a good structure than to be on the road traveling and make sure that they kids are safe.”
– Rupert Lacy Harrison County Emergency Management Director

There were some areas in each county where power outages were reported as well as minor water overflowing on the roadways.
