Rats in Family Dollar warehouse cause mass recall across South
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning to shoppers after more than 1,000 rodents were found in a Family Dollar distribution facility that ships products to stores in Mississippi and other states.
According to the FDA, these rodents were found inside the West Memphis Distribution Facility. The FDA announced a voluntary recall Friday affecting items that came through the warehouse and were sold in stores across the south.
Other than Mississippi, the states affected by this recall include Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Tennessee.
The FDA says in a January inspection of the facility they found dead birds, live rodents, and rodents in various states of decay.
The FDA said it is working with Family Dollar to begin a voluntary recall of affected products.
