Rapel Down the Side of the Beau for a Good Cause

Imagine being high above the Mississippi Gulf Coast and stepping ‘Over the Edge’ of the tallest building in the state.

On Saturday, April 18th, participants will be experiencing this first hand by rappelling down the side of the Beau Rivage for Habitat for Humanity’s ‘Over the Edge’ fundraising event. Individuals who donate or raise a minimum of $1,000 can either sign up to rappel themselves or nominate someone else to be ‘tossed’ off the 27th floor of the building.

Adele Lyons, Director of Development and Communication, says, “Funds raised at the event will be used to help us build more houses here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for hardworking families, as well as to help fund our financial education programs. We’ll be looking for folks who want to rapel, which we call ‘edgers.’ They can sign up with us and they can use a fundraising program called Fundly so their friends and family can donate money to them to help them reach their $1,000 goal.”

A professional rappelling company will be there to oversee the safety of the event. This is the first ‘Over the Edge’ event to benefit Habitat for Humanity and the first in Mississippi.
