Rally to support law enforcement in Ocean Springs
Jackson County residents and law enforcement leaders gathered this evening in Ocean Springs to show support for local police.
The Salute to Jackson County Police Departments recognized the various chiefs of police and sheriff’s departments for their work in the county and their cities.
Organized by the Jackson County Republican Club, Sheriff Mike Ezell and District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath served as keynote speakers while Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson and Gautier Mayor Phil Torjusen issued proclamations in support of police.
Ezell says the event was a good way to reach out to the community and have discussions about policing. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to get out and talk, show the folks who we are, that we do care about them. You know with all the things that’s going around the country, we are so blessed in South Mississippi to have such a big support of the community.”
Each chief of police in attendance received a certificate of appreciation as well.
