Push for Installation of Lights on Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge

The Coast group Women Against Violence Everywhere is continuing to push for lights to be installed on the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge. This comes after W.A.V.E. hosted a bridge walk last year in response to an attack and rape that took place on the walking path.
W.A.V.E. is currently in the process of raising money for the installation of cameras, one each on the Biloxi and Ocean Springs sides. They’ve set up an account with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation for donations.
Founder of W.A.V.E Robin Cooley said, “You know, it’s our connection between us and Biloxi. If you’ve ever walked that bridge, you see it’s not well lit at all. The roadway is lit but the pathway is not lit at all. Anything we can do to increase safety, that’s what we’re here for.”
W.A.V.E members tell News 25 they’ve spoken to both Biloxi and Ocean Springs officials who are supportive of the idea.
