Public Service Commissioner on the Coast

Southern District Public Service Commissioner Sam Britton was on the Coast to discuss various issues and legislation.
He addressed various public officials and community leaders during the Harrison County Council of Government’s quarterly meeting. Britton touched on the role of the Public Service Commission and the authority it has.
He also went into detail about electricity, elaborating on different energy policies, the cost of electricity in the area, and environmental issues. “I think it’s important for us to have an understanding because electricity is so integral to our daily lives and also to businesses and just the entire economy that we have is so tied to it. So, it’s important for us to understand about the cost of electricity and the factors that come into it,” said Britton.
Britton also provided a general update on the Kemper Power Plant, saying the commission is still waiting for the facility to update to commercial operations.
