Public sea turtle release in Pass Christian

Eight endangered juvenile Kemp’s ridley sea turtles will be released east of the Pass Christian Harbor and Yacht Club this Saturday, November 3, at 9:00 am. Mayor Chipper McDermott will be the special guest along with other local and state officials assisting in the release.

These turtles were rescued and rehabilitated by the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) after being incidentally captured by recreational anglers here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Kemp’s ridley is the world’s most endangered sea turtle.

If you accidentally hook a sea turtle – or see a sick or injured sea turtle, please call IMMS at 1-888-SOS-DOLPHIN (1-888-767-3657).
