Protecting pets during fireworks

Pets can get scared during New Year’s Eve celebrations, many don’t like the loud fireworks!

Animals scared by fireworks can run off and shelters will see a spike in animals turned in.

Make sure your pet has an ID tag and is microchipped, that’s something many shelters can do for a small fee.

Also try to keep them in a quiet, secure space surrounded by their favorite toys and treats.

Keep them distracted with television, music, or a white noise machine.

Medication from your vet may also be an option.

Do whatever you can to help your fur babies at home and safe, like making sure your yard is secure if you have to let the animal out during fireworks.

If they do escape, call shelters to see if your pet has been turned in.
