Proposal On Nurse Controversy Dies

To let all of the district’s registered nurses go, the ocean springs school board denies a contract that would restructure the school system’s health care complement. The proposal would have paved the way for the possibility to renew the contracts of some of the registered nurses who were let go. The contract was produced by health care subcontractor medical analysis. They proposed to replace the district’s six RN’s with three RN’s and a floating nurse practitioner, a move that would still save the district money without getting rid of all registered nurses. Board members allowed the motion to die and the school board will revisit the issue at its June 27 meeting.
