‘Promote the Vote’ at Pass Christian Elementary
The general election may not be until November 5th, but students at Pass Christian Elementary School cast their votes today for governor.
Each grade came in class by class to cast their vote for governor with their voter registration in hand. The voting precinct is put on by the fifth graders with the help of some of the second grade.
The staff and teachers at Pass Christian Elementary wanted to put on this mock vote to help the students understand the importance of voting so that you voice can be heard. Second grade teacher Julie Sellier said, “We have planned and practiced and learned about how the voting process goes. We want to show them the importance of going out and casting their vote and how important it is for people to do that for the people that are going to run our state or our country that it is so, so important to have a say.”
This was a statewide mock election for elementary school students put on by the Secretary of State’s Office.
