Production Begins on Shark Lake on the Coast

Lights, camera, action: words we’ll soon be hearing again on the Coast as production begins on yet another feature film in south Missisippi.

The film’s producer, Daniel Zirilli, was one of the guest speakers at Wednesday’s Mississippi Coast film meeting in Gulfport. Zirilli is no stranger to the Coast. He directed the feature film, Blunt Force, at locations throughout the area back in 2012. This new film he’s producing is called Shark Lake and stars Dolph Lungren, a popular actor many of you know as Ivan Drago, Rocky’s menacing Russian opponent in Rocky IV. Some south Mississippians have already signed on as cast and crew members. Zirilli tells News 25 he’s excited to be back on the Coast.

Zirilli says, "The locals were great to me. I wanted to bring another production back home. I’ve been trying to do it for the last couple of years and I think if we get a lot of support from the crew base. The locations are beautiful and obviously the incentive is important as well, so here we are."

Zirilli says Shark Lake is a scary action movie and much of it will be filmed on the water, so south Mississippi is an ideal location. Filmmakers are still looking to fill more cast and crew positions.
