Pro Golfer Rod Spittle Reads to Kids in Ocean Springs

“P is for Putt: a Golf Alphabet” is the name of the book PGA Champions Tour golfer Rod Spittle read to a group of preschoolers in Ocean Springs today.
It was nothing but smiles inside Lil’ Inspirations in Ocean Springs as Spittle read a book to a troop of local children this morning. The event was called Read to Me, put on by Excel by 5 Initiative and the Chevron Stem Zone.
Spittle is on the Coast competing in this week’s Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. The Canadian golfer on the Champions Tour went pro in 2004. Spittle tells News 25 he wasn’t out of his element this morning having some laughs and fun with the kids. “I’ve got five grand kids and we’ll have two more grandsons this summer. Reading books and telling stories is part of what we get to do at home. So to come and spend a little bit of time with the kids this morning has been really fun.”
The Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic will officially kick off on Thursday at Fallen Oak in Biloxi.
