Prime of Life Center Opens in Saucier
Seniors welcomed the brand new Prime of Life Center in Saucier this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The facility offers activities such as art, exercise, pottery and ceramics for residents 55 and older . The original senior center was taken over by a need to expand a children’s library. After a year and a half, the new building off Saucier-Lizana Road is open.
District 5 Supervisor Connie Rockco spearheaded the additional senior center and tells News 25 this is another example of rebuilding on the Gulf Coast. “People don’t want to hear about the “K” word, Katrina, but it has taken a long time to start building back. This community after Katrina grew and so we’re going to make sure it has the activities they need to keep a vibrant community working together.”
Rockco says the facility would not be there without the help from Harrison County supervisors, volunteers and funding from county taxpayers.
