Preservation in May

The City of Biloxi has a deep history which is why city officials have decided to dedicate May as a month-long salute to the city’s colorful past.

Biloxi Historical Administrator Bill Raymond has planned a series of events which will take place throughout the month. The events aim to either tell a story of a significant event in Biloxi’s history or they will visit an area of historical significance.

There will even be a chance for locals who have kept a finger on Biloxi’s history to be honored at the bi-annual Biloxi Preservation Awards. “People can nominate projects and individuals for a Preservation Award. In the past, we have given it to the White House Hotel for the wonderful restoration they have done there. We have also given it to homeowners who have done wonderful work restoring and saving historic homes in Biloxi and it is not just about architecture, it is also about people who have helped to tell the story of Biloxi.”
