Preparing for second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine

Second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are ready to be put in arms at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum tomorrow.

There has been a constant flow of patients coming to the Coliseum for the first dose of the Moderna vaccine.

The National Guard is preparing to increase the number of vaccines completed in a day by double the amount by the end of the week.

Today they prepared around 400 vaccines, tomorrow around 610, and each week they plan to grow the number of vaccines in arms, hoping to reach 800 in a day.

Justin Forest is the officer in charge of Coliseum site. “Second doses will begin to go out Tuesday and Friday of this week at this site. 210 of second doses, so a total of 610 will be given out Tuesday and Friday. Patients have been sent an email by the health department in order to come to this site in order to get their vaccine for second doses. I’m enjoying helping out the public and the Mississippi National Guard and the health department. So, just stay safe.”

Anyone vaccinated January 4th or 5th should be on the lookout for their second dose appointment email from the Mississippi Department of Health.
