Preparations underway at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum for Cruisin’ the Coast next week
Preparations are underway at the Coast Coliseum and Convention Center ahead of Cruisin’ the Coast events next week.
One of South Mississippi primary entertainment venues is making its final preparations for America’s Largest Block Party.
Coast Coliseum Executive Director Matt McDonnell said, “We’ve been experimenting, doing other events here since we opened back up early May and we’ve seen lower crowds for the most part, but we’ve seen crowds that are adhering to what we’re asking them to do.”
As the home to Cruisin’ the Coast events like the Vicari Auto Auction and Swap Meet, guests will stream in and out of the complex over the span of three days next week.
While the events remain the same, guests will notice some differences as concerns over COVID-19 continues.
Many displays of COVID-19 policies will be listed throughout the entire complex like signage and hand sanitizer stations. “Hopefully the guests that show up will adhere to social distancing, keeping their hands washed and maintaining just a safe environment for the folks who want to come out and shop.”
McDonnell says the partnership with Cruisin’ officials is stronger than ever as they navigate new challenges. “They know that we’re flexible where we have to make changes when we have occurrences like this, and that’s why they’re still here with us is because they know how to handle the business.”
Patience is being stressed as folks prepare to catch all the cool cars making their way to the facility. “I think that’s the key. Patience, waiting in lines, patience, getting to park, patience, when you’re around groups of people you may not know, you know if you have to step back or wait, let them pass you.”
