PRCC World Series Bound
The Pearl River Community College baseball team was named the number one seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division II World Series on the back of winning the Region 23 Tournament.
PRCC will play in Enid, Oklahoma for the first time since 2002. Just to make it to this point, the Wildcats had to beat the first, second, fourth, and ninth ranked teams in the country in the Region 23 Tournament alone, leaving them as one of just ten teams still alive.
The Pearl River roster features eight players from the six coastal counties as they prepare to represent South Mississippi the best way they know how. PRCC catcher Macgruder O’Bannon said, “Excited. It’s a great opportunity. Once in a lifetime experience. Winning the regional was pretty exciting, but getting to go to Oklahoma and compete for the World Series, man, is exciting. I’m really looking forward to it.”
PRCC designated hitter Kasey Donaldson said, “It’s just awesome. I mean turning dreams into reality. I wanted to come here. This was my first visit I belonged to and I had other visits set up to other junior colleges and as soon as I came here on my visit I was like this is it. So yes sir, it’s a blessing.”
The Wildcats will make their World Series debut Sunday.
