PRCC Baseball Signing Day: St. Martin alum Leif Moore heading to South Alabama

Back in May, the Pearl River Baseball program hosted the Region 23 Tournament for the first time in eight years.

On Friday, the Wildcats sent eight players to the next level. Out of that bunch, St. Martin alum Leif Moore is the only player from the six coastal counties and the only third-year player signing a national letter of intent with a four-year program.

The former Yellowjacket is heading to South Alabama following a lost 2021 season due to Tommy John Surgery.

But Moore was downright dominant in 2020, going 2-0 with a 0.67 ERA across 13-and-a-third innings to go along with 24 strikeouts to just two walks. “It means the world to me because I’ve been here three years and been through some hard times and I’m just ready to get back out there. South Alabama has been on the top of my list since I was a little kid and it’s just – it’s a great school, great atmosphere and I’m just ready to get there.”

PRCC Head Coach Michael Avalon has now sent 61 Wildcats to the four-year level.

Here’s the full list of next level Wildcats:

  • Turner Swistak-Tennessee
  • Dakota Lee-Southeastern Louisiana
  • Matt Mercer-Troy
  • Ryan Burt-Nicholls State
  • Harper Jordan-Nicholls State
  • John Griffin Bell-South Alabama
  • Leif Moore-South Alabama
  • Sam Hill-Louisiana
