One dead in single vehicle accident near Wiggins

One person is dead as a result of a single vehicle accident on Highway 49. Mississippi Highway Patrol said the accident happened about 11 a.m. Wednesday just south of Wiggins. The Mississippi Department of Corrections, with the help of other authorities, captured an inmate who escaped from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville on Tuesday afternoon. Drew Johnson, who is serving life for murder in Rankin County. He was sentenced on February 14, 2022.
