Gulfport Fire Department battled a house fire Wednesday morning on Creel Circle. Fire Chief Billy Kelley said firefighters could see heavy black smoke as they approached the residence and about half the home was fully engulfed. President Joe Biden awarded Mississippian Fannie Lou Hamer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
