Possibility of Saints drafting LSU players: Several first round targets make sense

It’s hard to find a mock draft with less than four LSU Tigers going in the first round, if not as many as six.

With the 24th overall pick, the prospect of the New Orleans Saints drafting Joe Burrow is obviously out of the question, but maybe not one of his former teammates.

Other potential first round targets include cornerback Kristian Fulton, wide receiver Justin Jefferson, edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson, and linebacker Patrick Queen.

That’s not to say the Saints have to select a player with ties to Louisiana, but the option is certainly there if they prefer a little home cooking from the bayou.  WWL Radio College/Pro Football Analyst Mike Detillier said,“Picking one early you’ve got opportunities here now because in round one with Patrick Queen, with a Kristian Fulton, you’ve got an opportunity here to do that. Even a little bit later on with a Damien Lewis still there. I think the Saints will try to shore up that offensive guard spot. I think it’s not something that’s a back burner issue. I think it’s a front burner one for them. They may be getting rid of one of their high priced offensive guards this off-season. That may be part of a trade on Draft Day.”

The virtual edition of this year’s NFL Draft begins Thursday at 7 p.m.
