Port City Sounders played in Gulfport
Semi-pro soccer team Port City Sounders took the field at Gulfport’s Herbert Wilson Stadium Saturday and they didn’t come alone.
The soccer club invites recreational leagues to every home game to watch the highest level of soccer played in South Mississippi. The team has players from all over the Coast who are currently in college, high school and former high school players from around the area.
Board Member Andy Elkins tells News 25 this is a great opportunity for young soccer players and fans to watch the game at a high level here on the Coast. “We want to get to know the public and want the public to get to know us and see familiar faces because right now, other than the Biloxi Shuckers, we are the only other minor league ball program on the Coast.”
The Port City Sounders are a nonprofit organization. All of the players and coaches are on the team simply for the love of soccer.
