Popps Ferry Park is now open

After three decades of work and planning, Popps Ferry Causeway Park officially opened its gates this morning.

City officials created this park to improve a site owned by the City of Biloxi by expanding an existing park so that visitors could experience the coastal estuary ecosystem.

The park has waterfront boardwalks, marsh over walks, an open-air interpretive center, a host of waterside railed walkways, and covered fishing kiosks.

Susan Given and her dog, Sophie, walk Popps Ferry Causeway Park often and she tells News 25 she is excited about the entire park being open to the public now. “I think it’s great. It will be nice to have the picnic tables open now and people will be able to use it more frequently. We do come here quite often for walks and do enjoy the location. It’s very nice and very serene.”

Gates to the park will stay open on business days from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
