Popp’s Ferry elementary principal receives national award

Popp’s Ferry Elementary School Principal Dr. Todd Boucher has been named National Distinguished Principal for Mississippi.

The NAESP selects recipients for setting high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and atmosphere for the students, families, and staff in their schools.

Dr. Boucher says it’s such an honor to receive this award as only one person per state is selected.

Dr. Boucher says he really credits his teachers and staff for making him and the school look so good. “I think it just gives us a little bit more recognition for the achievements we’ve achieved over the last few years. Our test scores have improved significantly over the last five years. The staff has really come together and created a great atmosphere here so it really gets us out there in the public’s eye to see what we’ve accomplished here at the school.”

Dr. Boucher will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in October to meet with the other principals around the country and receive their awards.
