Popp’s Ferry Elementary Mardi Gras Parade
Today was a big day for students and staff at Popp’s Ferry Elementary School as they got to enjoy their very own Mardi Gras parade.
Thirty-one floats rolled in the annual Popp’s Ferry Mardi Gras Parade. Almost 60 from all across the Coast and Louisiana participated in the parade.
News 25’s very own Ryan Mahan was the grand marshal. “We had a great day today. I am glad that the weather cooperated because we had the kids parade here at Popp’s Ferry Elementary and they let me be the grand marshal. I was in great company. We had McGruff the Crime Dog. We had the Chick-Fil-A cow. We had Schooner from the Shuckers. It is awesome to be here. You know, Mardi Gras is generally thought of as an adult holiday, but you got to remember that the kids can have fun too.”
“The whole staff and community came together to make this special. It is awesome that our kids got to see so many adults and companies around that actually want to support them and see them have fun at school.”
The students also had a chance to learn about parade safety earlier in the week.
