Popp’s Ferry Bridge upgrades set for completion

City contractors in Biloxi this week will be finalizing the upgrades to the Popp’s Ferry Bridge. No other closures are expected.

Twenty-thousand drivers travel down the Popp’s Ferry Bridge every day. Since work began in December they have seen plenty of delays and closures.

This $1.27 million project included installing and manufacturing a generator and underwater power cable. They also installed a new power panel that controls raising and lowering the bridge. These pieces of equipment were originally installed more than 30 years ago.

They are finishing up everything this week and are making sure there are no issues, but they do not expect any closures for those on the road or the water.
