Politically Connect Forum
The NAACP of Biloxi gave all candidates vying for Mississippi state political offices in the 2019 elections an opportunity talk about the issues in a politically connect forum.
Candidates talked about their platforms on a ‘come whenever you can’ basis and in the order they made their appearances at the event.
Both Democratic candidates for public service commission of the Southern District Connie Moran and Sugar Stallings were there.
They spoke with those in attendance about issues they feel impact the community and possible solutions they will present if they are elected. They discussed job growth, high speed internet, cutting robocalls, and transparency when it comes to policy.
But, both candidates agree that getting to hear voter concerns is the most important aspect of the campaign trail. Stallings said, “Not only am I a candidate, I am a member of the NAACP so it is very important to me to let people know what I’m running for, the platform I’m running for. Also, that I’m a member so I’m already engaged and doing things in the community.”
Moran said, “I always want to make especially the NAACP events that i can. It’s very important to me to hear diverse views from all people.”
The primary elections will be Tuesday, August 6th. Any necessary runoff races will be held August 27th. The General Election takes place November 5th.
