Police search for shooting suspect at Jackson State University

An active shooter at Jackson State University prompted a lockdown of the campus this afternoon.

According to university officials, a person was shot in the leg on the north end of the campus. Neither the victim nor the shooter is a student.

The school lifted the lockdown a short time later saying “the campus community is no longer under threat” of a gunman.

The suspected shooter was seen in a black Honda Accord. The license plate of the vehicle is MAC 0214.
