Point Sur Docks at Port of Gulfport

This morning the Point Sur docked at the Port of Gulfport but it won’t be staying for long.
USM’s 135 foot research vessel pulled into the port today to restock and change crews. Crews on the boat had been out on the waters for a week as a part of the Consortium for Coastal River Dominated Ecosystems or CONCORDE. Their goal is to discover the role that rivers played during the oil spill back in 2012 and if a spill happens again in coastal waters close to river discharges, how can we predict where the greatest impacts would be?
The Point Sur sets sail with seven crew members and 18 scientists gaining valuable experience in the field.
