Plans Unveiled for Mississippi Aquarium

The Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport is a legacy project that future generations of Coast residents and tourists will enjoy.
That was the message from city leaders and Governor Phil Bryant as the plans for the city’s new aquarium were unveiled. The aquarium will spread over nine acres of downtown Gulfport. A bridge will be built over Highway 90 connecting the port and Jones Park to the more than $20 million aquarium.
City leaders also announced the Coastal Transit Authority has received $8 million from the National Transit Authority to fully restore the downtown Gulfport library. It’ll be transformed into a transit hub with conference rooms, class rooms and administrative offices.
City leaders hope to have a groundbreaking in one year.
