Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Interstate 10 in Jackson County
Some people are travelling by land, others by road this Memorial holiday weekend, but one person did both on Monday. Just after noon Memorial Day, the pilot of small red and white, single engine propeller plane made an emergency landing in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between the D’Iberville and Ocean Springs exits in Jackson County. Fortunately, no one was injured, although the pilot landed the plane on the heavily travelled section of interstate just before the interstate narrows to four lanes on one of the busiest road travel holidays of the year. Witnesses were in awe over how the plane managed to safely land and not injure anyone. No word yet on what caused the emergency landing. The eastbound lanes of traffic on that section of Interstate 10 were backed up for a while. We have a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
