Pirates Headed to the Bay

Hopefully no one will be walking the plank, but this weekend the pirates are headed to the bay.
Starting Thursday night, the Mystic Krewe of the Seahorse will be holding their third annual Pirate Day. Events range in everything from pub crawls, an amusement park for the kids to a historical skirmish reenacted by a local militia against the infamous Captain Longbeard.
All the swashbuckling fun this weekend is an event that combines the bay’s unique history along with its enthusiasm for pirate lore. John Rosetti with Pirate Day at the Bay said, “We put a theme of telling the history of Bay St. Louis and there’s a little history of the pirates that they used to come to Bay St. Louis to celebrate once a year and that’s what Pirate Day is all about.”
Captain Longbeard said, “I like to come back in from the Caribbean, picking up a little trinket. Come in and bring the wenches in, have a little party, a little rum.”
Queen of the Mystic Krewe of Seahorse Yuki Northington said, “It’s grown and grown and grown. We’ve incorporated and gone over to Florida and we’re recruiting their pirates to come over and a bunch of us went to Billy Bo Legs.”
