Pet Slumber Party Program
Many of us love going to see the dogs and cats at the Humane Society but what if you could take one home for a night without the obligation of adopting?
Now you can through their new Pet Slumber Party Program. The Humane Society is encouraging community members to come pick up a pet to bring home overnight and in return you’re just asked to complete a brief survey about the experience with the animal.
The idea is to get a better idea of the animal’s personality so it will be easier to help them find a home. Humane Society of South Mississippi Marketing Specialist Maren Slay said, “We get to learn their socialization levels, if they’re good with children or other animals, if they’re house trained, they’re personality quirks that don’t necessarily come out when they’re in a shelter environment. They also get to experience what life is like in a family and hopefully these slumber party hosts fall in love with them and adopt them and it gets to be a forever home for them.”
The slumber party program is open to shelter pets over six months of age who have been spayed or neutered.
