Pet Adoptions Rise During The Holidays

While many parents race to the nearest toy store for the perfect Christmas gift for their kids, many head to their nearest animal shelter to add a new member to their family. Officials with the Jackson County Animal Shelter tell News 25, the holidays are usually one of their busiest times of the year. At the same time, they see a flood of pets coming back after the holidays because kids weren’t ready for a new pet. Their advice, make sure your kids are ready for the new responsibility of pet. Also, look at adopting adult pets that could already be housebroken. If you believe your kids are ready for a new pet, the Jackson County Animal Shelter will have adoption specials Friday. From 10 to 4, the first 15 adoptions of adult dogs or cats will be free.
