Permit fees in Biloxi waived after Hurricane Nate
Biloxi residents will now be able to save money if they need to make repairs to their property.
Biloxi City Council voted to waive permit fees for those seeking to make repairs on owner-occupied dwellings following damage from Hurricane Nate. This has been done one other time: when Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Council Members understand every dollar counts when rebuilding, but the council did fail to pass waiving permit fees for commercial properties. Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich said, “Anything you can repair or replace in the city, it has to be inspected. It costs a minimal fee, but it’s still none the less a fee.”
Other communities along the Coast, like Ocean Springs, are also waiving permit fees for repairs following Hurricane Nate.
