Victim identified in fatal pedestrian involved accident on near Cowan Road

A pedestrian who was was hit and killed by a person driving a vehicle traveling east on Highway 90 near Cowan Road has been identified as 64-year-old William Lee Brumfield.

The driver reportedly ran off into the sand, hitting the victim.

Brumfield was pronounced dead on the scene and according to Coroner Brian Switzer, Brumfield died from blunt force trauma.

The driver was transported to a local area hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and have since been released. The driver is not facing charges.
