Pearlington, Mississippi

Mississippi and Louisiana officials say flooding on the Pearl River may come a day later than expected.

Hancock County emergency management says flooding on the river that forms the southern end of the state line may not come until late today or early Wednesday.

Right now interstate 10 is still open, however highway 604 in Hancock County is closed.

Officials are preparing for 5 to 7 feet of water that could affect 100 to 200 homes in Pearlington.

Four deaths have been reported in Louisiana, and the National Guard has rescued nearly 33 hundred residents.
