Pay Raises for Biloxi City Employees

Over 450 Biloxi employees will soon see a two percent pay increase after the motion passed this afternoon.
City Council members met earlier today to discuss the compensation schedule. A total of $500,000 of tax payer money is allocated for the raise.
What is new about the pay raise is a yearly evaluation for employees receiving these pay increases. Right now the only departments in Biloxi that participate in yearly evaluations are police and fire.
Some Biloxi officials were torn over the idea to make them citywide. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi said, “There are a number of good aspects to that, but there are a number of things you need to look out for which is what our human resource departments will have to do.”
Ward 2 Councilman Felix Gines said, “Most of the directors have already implemented the way they want to do things and we just want to add to it to make it better for our employees.”
The last time Biloxi city employees saw a raise was October of 2015.
