Paving to Start on Canal Road

If you normally take Canal Road in Gulfport, you may want to start planning an alternate route.
The prep work is being done for paving to begin on Canal Road between John Clark and Landon. Harrison County officials say they want people to slow down by this section of the road.
Officials tell News 25 Canal Road was damaged by city water lines and took a beating from passing trucks after the port expansion.
Harrison County Supervisor Angel Middleton says this paving is much needed. “It’s going to be so nice when we get this done because it is a lot of wear and tear on everybody’s vehicles. It’s kind of good. It gets people going a little slower. We might have a speeding issue when we have a good road to travel on, but it’s going to be so nice for the public.”
Middleton says the paving is planned to start on September 12th.
