Pat Summitt Dies at 64
Legendary women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt has passed away at the age of 64.
On Sunday, Summit’s family released a statement that they were preparing for the worst as her health was declining.
Summitt announced in August 2011 that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and continued to coach the Lady Vols through the 2011-2012 season before stepping down.
The 64-year-old coach coached 38 seasons, winning 1,098 games which is the most ever by any coach, men or women, in Division I, eight national championships, an Olympic gold medal in 1984 and was named the NCAA Coach of the Year seven times.
