Pass Christian Police Department adds a new K-9
A new furry addition to the Pass Christian Police Department will be helping the city be a safer place.
Wodan, the Pass Christian Police Department’s first K9 unit since 2005, has finished training and will now assist in patrolling operations.
United States K-9’s donated Wodan to the city. He is a seven-year-old Belgian Malinois. Sergeant Edward Walley is Wodan’s handler and he tells News 25 the Pass Christian police officers used the K-9 at the scene of the recent parade shooting and Wodan provided to be a major asset in handling the crowd. “You had thousands of people running in all different directions while we were trying to set up a crime scene. They kept running through the scene. They could damage evidence and all that. We deployed a K-9 dog and it helps with crowd control, keeping people back, able to move people farther back to set up the perimeter.”
Wodan might look cute but Sgt. Walley tells News 25 these K-9’s are incredibly fierce and trained to stop at nothing in the event of an attack.
